Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Tesla and EV collision repair, ADAS calibration, insurance claims, battery service, and more — answered by our specialists.
Tesla Repairs
Yes — TSL EV Center specializes in Tesla collision and body repair for all models: Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck. Our technicians are trained on Tesla's aluminum-intensive body structure, high-voltage safety protocols, and post-repair ADAS/Autopilot sensor recalibration. We follow OEM repair procedures to maintain structural integrity and preserve your Tesla warranty.
Tesla's factory warranty covers manufacturing defects, not collision damage. However, using a shop that follows Tesla OEM repair procedures — like TSL EV Center — ensures your vehicle's structural warranty and Autopilot system remain intact. We use Tesla-approved repair methods and OEM or equivalent parts. We recommend contacting Tesla directly for warranty-specific questions.
Absolutely. After any collision involving the bumper, windshield, or body panels, we perform full ADAS static calibration to realign Tesla's cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors. This is essential for Autopilot, Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, and Full Self-Driving (FSD) to function correctly. We use professional calibration targets and software to meet Tesla's sensor alignment specifications.
EV Collision Repair
Electric vehicles require specialized knowledge that traditional body shops often lack. Key differences include: (1) High-voltage battery safety — technicians must be HV-certified to safely disconnect and handle battery systems. (2) Aluminum body repair — most EVs use aluminum-intensive structures requiring specialized tools and welding techniques. (3) ADAS recalibration — all cameras, radar, and LiDAR sensors must be recalibrated after any structural repair. (4) OTA software updates — some repairs require Tesla or manufacturer software updates post-repair.
Yes — we service Rivian R1T and R1S vehicles. Rivian uses a unique skateboard platform with integrated battery pack, requiring specialized high-voltage safety procedures. Our technicians are trained on Rivian's body structure and can perform collision repair, paint matching, and ADAS recalibration for Rivian vehicles.
Yes — we service Lucid Air vehicles. Lucid's ultra-efficient drivetrain and aluminum space frame require precise repair techniques. We follow Lucid's OEM repair guidelines to ensure structural integrity and system performance are fully restored after collision damage.
Beyond Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid, we service BMW i-Series (i3, i4, iX), Mercedes-Benz EQ-Series (EQS, EQE), Audi e-tron, Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, Chevrolet Bolt, Cadillac LYRIQ, Porsche Taycan, Hyundai IONIQ 5/6, Kia EV6, Nissan LEAF/Ariya, Polestar 2, and Volvo EX90. If your EV isn't listed, call us — we can likely help.
Insurance & Estimates
Yes — we work with all major insurance carriers including State Farm, GEICO, Progressive, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, Liberty Mutual, and more. We handle the entire claims process on your behalf: damage documentation, estimate submission, adjuster communication, and final billing. You simply drop off your vehicle and pick it up when it's done.
Yes — all estimates are completely free and no-obligation. You can call or text us at (954) 741-7701, submit our online estimate form, or stop by our shop at 7527 W Oakland Park Blvd, Lauderhill, FL. We typically respond within 15 minutes during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM).
The process is straightforward: (1) File a claim with your insurance company and get a claim number. (2) Call us or submit our online form — we'll schedule an inspection. (3) We document the damage and submit a detailed estimate to your insurer. (4) Once approved, we begin repairs. (5) We handle all back-and-forth with the adjuster. You don't need to manage the paperwork.
Repair Process
Repair time depends on the extent of damage and parts availability. Minor cosmetic repairs (dents, paint, bumper covers) typically take 2–5 business days. Moderate structural repairs take 7–14 business days. Major collision work involving frame, battery, or extensive panel replacement can take 3–4 weeks. We provide daily status updates via phone or text so you always know where your vehicle stands.
We do not maintain a loaner fleet, but we work directly with Enterprise, Hertz, and other rental agencies that offer EV and hybrid loaners. If your insurance policy includes rental coverage, we'll coordinate the rental on your behalf. We can also help arrange transportation from our shop if needed.
We prioritize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts for structural components, safety systems, and ADAS-related parts to ensure proper fit, function, and warranty compliance. For cosmetic components, we offer both OEM and high-quality aftermarket options depending on your preference and insurance coverage. We always discuss parts choices with you before beginning repairs.
Battery & High-Voltage
Yes — our technicians are high-voltage certified and trained to safely inspect, diagnose, and repair EV battery systems. After a collision, we assess battery pack integrity, check for thermal damage, and test cell performance. Minor battery damage (module replacement, BMS repair) can often be addressed in-shop. Severe pack damage may require manufacturer-sourced replacement packs, which we can coordinate.
Yes — when handled by HV-certified technicians following proper safety protocols. Our team follows strict high-voltage isolation procedures: the battery is safely de-energized before any structural work begins. We use insulated tools, HV-rated PPE, and follow manufacturer-specific HV safety guidelines. Never attempt to repair a collision-damaged EV battery yourself or take it to a shop without EV high-voltage certification.
ADAS & Technology
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) includes cameras, radar, LiDAR, and ultrasonic sensors that power features like Autopilot, lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. After any collision that moves or replaces a bumper, windshield, fender, or door — even by a fraction of a millimeter — these sensors can be misaligned. Miscalibrated ADAS can cause false alerts, missed hazards, or system failures. We perform static ADAS calibration using manufacturer-approved targets and software after every qualifying repair.
Yes — windshield replacement on Tesla vehicles requires forward-facing camera recalibration. The main camera (used for Autopilot, Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, and Automatic Emergency Braking) is mounted to the windshield and must be recalibrated after any glass replacement. We perform static calibration in our facility using Tesla-compatible calibration equipment to restore full Autopilot functionality.
Paint & Body
Yes — we use computerized color-matching technology and OEM paint formulas to achieve factory-accurate color matches. Tesla's unique colors — including Pearl White Multi-Coat, Midnight Silver Metallic, Deep Blue Metallic, and Ultra Red — require multi-stage paint processes. Our paint technicians are trained on EV-specific paint systems and use spray booths with controlled temperature and humidity for a flawless finish.
